Job summary

Mission Community Services Society seeks a dedicated Cook in Mission, British Columbia. Job description

Mission Community Services Society is a CARF accredited non‑profit organization that's dedicated to helping people, changing lives, and building community. With a legacy dating back to 1972, MCSS has continuously strived to support community members in need by offering a variety of programs like supportive housing, settlement programs for those new to Canada, seniors support, and much more!

What you’ll be doing:
  • Prepare, cook, deliver, and serve meals including those for special dietary needs and special occasions, in accordance with safety and health standards and the menu plan.
  • Keep the kitchen area clean, safe, and well‑maintained.
  • Store food items in a safe and dated manner.
  • Keep accurate and timely kitchen function records.
  • Prepare and serve meals at specified times.
  • Assist Program Coordinator with processing donations.
  • Adapt to new cooking, cleaning, and preparation techniques.
  • Work with volunteers for meal prep or deliveries.
  • Track and report all food waste.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What you bring:
  • Grade 12 plus graduation from a program in institutional or residential quantity cooking.
  • Two years’ related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must have current Occupational First Aid Level 1 and FOODSAFE Certificate from the Department of Health.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector.
  • Valid B.C. Driver’s License.
  • Ability to understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office software.
