Job summary

Eurest in Victoria, BC is seeking a General Help to support meal preparation and distribution in a correctional center. You will follow prep schedules, assist with cooking, portion trays, and maintain strict sanitation standards. Fluency in English and strong hygiene practices are essential for success.

You will wash and cut produce, measure ingredients, store items safely, and operate kitchen equipment. The role offers on-site work with opportunities to advance within Canada’s largest food

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Must pass and maintain a clean criminal record
• Food Safe Level 1 certificate or provincial equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Physical ability to perform all job-related tasks
• Ability to operate all related equipment
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Good personal hygiene
• Able to give and receive instructions

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables per the preparation schedule
• Prepare, cook or pan food as per prep schedule
• Count, weigh and measure ingredients for assigned food production area
• Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
• Portion meal trays and special diet trays as per meal schedule
• Load, deliver, collect and unload meal service carts to the pods
• Perform general cleaning duties including carts, trolleys, dishes and pots
• Maintain storage areas in a clean and orderly manner
• Work efficiently and handle all equipment and products safely
• Perform other duties during off-service hours as required
• Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management in a suitable timeframe

Description

How you will make an impact:

You will complete a variety of duties in the preparation and distribution of meals to service units as per the requirements of that Correctional Center along with sanitation and cleaning tasks.

As a General Help you will:

About you:

• Physical ability to perform all job-related tasks
• Ability to operate all related equipment
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
• Must practice good personal hygiene
• Must be able to effectively give and receive instructions

The hourly wage rate for this position is $19.76. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
