Okanagan Waldorf School (OWS) is seeking a Kindergarten Class Teacher to join our established program. Your primary goal as a Waldorf Kindergarten teacher is to teach by example. Through imitation, the students will learn important lessons from you, important lessons to prepare them for grade school academics. As a Waldorf Kindergarten teacher, you will model and provide ample opportunity for students to engage in meaningful work, you will foster free play, and develop the fine and gross motor development of our students through music, singing, games, outdoor education, and intentional movement exercises. You would be working with our diverse population of children in an atmosphere that encourages active inquiry and fosters individual growth, promoting respect for self, others, and the world in which they live. This position is open until filled.
The ideal candidate is required to hold a certificate to teach through the BC Teachers Regulation Branch and be motivated by a curriculum inspired by the developmental and pedagogical theories which provide the basis for the methods of Waldorf Education. Applicants that have completed or will complete their Waldorf Early Years Certification and 3-5 years minimum of previous class teaching experience are highly preferred.
Responsibilities include planning, delivery, assessment, and reporting of the BC and Waldorf curriculum. In addition, regular attendance at all faculty, department, and committee meetings; participation in the planning and implementing of festivals; developing and holding class and parent meetings; healthy engagement in school-wide policy and procedures is required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong classroom management skills, a deep grounding in the development of the young child, will have the ability to build professional relationships with parents, faculty, and staff, have a love for the outdoors and an understanding of the benefits of outdoor programming within the school day, and will enthusiastically join the collaborative work of our school.

SALARY
$50,057 to $65,343/year prorated to FTE based on experience and credentials
