Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a temporary kettle driver for the Christmas Kettle Campaign in Canada. You will deliver and pick up kettles from assigned locations, greet volunteers and staff, and help with deposit bag transfers, under the campaign's logistics schedule.

This role starts November 13, 2026, with variable shifts including days, evenings and weekends. Candidates should have a BC Class 5 driver's license, be able to lift up to 40 lbs, and commit to OH&S policies.

Qualifications

  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Willingness to support The Salvation Army mission and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and/or pick up kettle(s) from assigned locations in a timely manner.
  • Deliver kettles to final daily destination and deposit contents into bags.
  • Greet staff, volunteers, and the public in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Maintain daily mileage log.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old fundraising tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. The Christmas kettle driver is responsible for delivering and picking up kettles from various assigned locations as directed.

Accountabilities:

The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar duties to the listed below:

  • - Deliver and/or pick up kettle(s) from assigned locations in a timely manner.
  • - Deliver kettles to their final daily destination and help empty the kettle contents into the deposit bags.
  • - Follow the provided drop off/ pick up schedule.
  • - Greet staff/ clients/ volunteers/ public in a friendly and professional manner.
  • - Maintain daily mileage log.
  • - Perform other related duties as required.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
  • - Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.
Working Conditions:
  • - This is a temporary position starting on November 13, 2026. Hours may vary depending on campaign needs and scheduling availability.
  • - Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
  • - Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
  • - Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
  • - Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs. in a safe manner.
  • - Pick up and drop off equipment or supplies as needed
Education, Experience, AND Qualifications:
  • - Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • - Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
  • - Completed High School or equivalent
  • - Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
Experience and Knowledge:
  • - Prior related experience is an asset.
  • - Current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

  • - Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
  • - Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
