Job summary

The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a temporary Christmas Kettle Campaign Fundraising Worker to engage the public, collect donations and promote TSA programs in mall locations. You will stand beside a Christmas Kettle, answer questions, and provide a friendly, professional image while on duty.

The role runs through December 24, 2026, requires standing for long periods, and may involve exposure to cold weather.

Qualifications

• Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.
• Up to one year of related experience or working in customer service is an asset.
• Money handling experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved – minimum 2 hours), ensuring security of donations received.
• Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding TSA ministries and programs.
• Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation.
• Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Purpose summary

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. The Christmas Kettle Fundraising Worker encourages the public to donate to The Salvation Army by standing next to a Christmas Kettle in a public location and engaging passers-by.

Key Responsibilities

Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below.

• Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved – minimum 2 hours), ensuring security of donations received.
• Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding TSA ministries and programs.
• Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation.
• Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Work environment is typically in malls/stores.
• Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.

Experience

• Up to one year of related experience or working in customer service is an asset.

• Related experience is an asset.

Skills/capabilities

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
• Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs).
• Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
• Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.

This is a temporary position ending December 24, 2026.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.00 to $18.08 with a maximum of $21.69.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
