Position Purpose summary: The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. The Christmas Kettle Worker position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for daily operational duties of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets
Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteers’ arrival at Campaign onset.
Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor.
Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
Assist in promoting, coordinating, volunteers. Will assist in the recruitment of kettle volunteers.
Support and assist volunteers and respond to emergency absences.
Support and assist in the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; may deliver and pick-up kettles in an emergency situation.
Host at a kettle as required.
Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc.
Perform other related duties as required.
This is a temporary position. Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements. Work environment is typically in malls/stores Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel is associated with this position.
Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.
A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service. Money handling experience is an asset. Experience in office administration. Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).
The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $22.23 with a maximum of $26.20. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
