Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Junior Water/Wastewater Design Specialist in Ottawa to support municipal water and wastewater projects across Eastern Ontario. The role offers exposure to planning, design, construction, and commissioning within multidisciplinary teams under senior engineers and project managers.

You have a Master’s degree in a related engineering field and up to 2 years of experience, plus strong analytical skills and proficiency with Windows-based software.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related Engineering discipline.
• 0–2 years of experience delivering water/wastewater projects for municipalities; co-ops/internships considered.
• Proficient in Windows-based software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Working towards P.Eng. designation with Professional Engineers Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and analysis of mechanical systems for water and wastewater facilities.
• Support design development of expansions/retrofits/upgrades to such infrastructure.
• Prepare engineering calculations, hydraulic assessments, and technical reports.
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, system layouts, and mechanical design drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of contract specifications and tender documents.
• Project support across planning, detailed design, and construction phases.
• Field: site visits, condition assessments, and equipment inspections.
• Review contractor submittals and assist with commissioning activities.
