Job summary

SweetTech in Montreal, QC seeks a junior software engineer focused on bug resolution for North American clients. You will handle reports directly, reproduce issues, and craft fixes with Claude Code and Codex guidance. You will communicate clearly and grow into broader product work.

The role blends client interaction with coding, offering learning from experienced developers and a chance to contribute to the lending software stack using Python, TypeScript, and FastAPI.

Qualifications

• Foundational software development skills demonstrated through degree, internships, or projects.
• Able to read, write, and debug code and explain a web app you built.
• Familiarity with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, web APIs, Git, and SQL basics.
• Willingness to learn frontend and backend work.
• Strong ability to explain technical issues to non-technical people.
• Proactive communication with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Talk directly with clients to understand issues and their impact.
• Reproduce reported issues with clear steps, expectations, and logs.
• Use Claude Code and Codex to investigate causes, fix, and add tests.
• Read and explain AI-generated code and rationale behind changes.
• Run automated tests and verify client scenarios in the app.
• Keep Jira tickets up to date and communicate resolution timing to clients.
• Escalate complex or urgent issues to CTO or teammates with evidence.
• Grow into building complete features and product improvements.
