Job summary

Braber Equipment is seeking an experienced Junior Purchaser to join our Abbotsford team. The role focuses on procurement, supplier negotiations, and inventory control to support manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will manage vendor relationships, monitor supply risks, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives while collaborating across departments in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Purchaser or in purchasing within manufacturing.
• Familiar with ERP and MRP systems; Syspro preferred.
• Relevant degree; CPIM/CIPS beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Purchase goods, materials, or services meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Oversee inventory levels and open-to-buy planning.
• Support purchasing and related departments; flag supply issues impacting operations.
• Monitor risks and opportunities; act on procurement insights.
• Negotiate prices/terms and seek cost-saving opportunities using best practices.
• Build and manage supplier relationships; prepare performance reports.
• Prepare regular purchasing reports to analyze performance and drive improvements.
• Perform other duties as required.

About the role

Braber Equipment is seeking an experienced Junior Purchaser to join our team.

The successful candidate is someone who has a strong background in supply chain management, contract negotiation, vendor management, and inventory control. If you are a highly motivated individual with a passion for supply chain management, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

What you'll do

• Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
• Oversee inventory levels and set the open-to-buy plan
• Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
• Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
• Negotiate and improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing procurement best practice tools and methods
• Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and prepare supplier performance report cards
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly purchasing reports to analyze performance and make improvements
• Other duties, as required

Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Purchaser
• Familiar with ERP and MRP systems, preferable Syspro
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy and strong analytical skills
• Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Works independently and with a team
• Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholders, and suppliers

Education and Experience requirements:

• Relevant business degree preferred; CPIM or CIPS or similar qualification is beneficial.
• 1 - 2 years’ experience or working in purchasing team within a manufacturing environment.
