Job DescriptionJob Description

Our client is a market leader in the building materials industry and is looking for a Junior Production Manager for their molding department in Woodbridge, ON.Reporting to the Plant Manager, this individual will manage and direct the day-to-day operations and tasks in the department to make sure all goals and deadlines are met.Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

Inspect raw material products to verify conformance to specifications in order to obtain maximum yields and efficiency, must initiate direct setup and adjustments of machines to accommodate product that is outside specification, this must be done on a daily basis;

Maintain productivity levels according to plant goals.

Work with management in a joint effort to provide the worker with a safe attitude, safe surroundings and safe equipment.

Monitor quality of finished products to ensure compliance to company quality specification;

Maintain procedures and documentation for all Quality Systems and Production methods and paperwork;

Maintain Housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team members;

Maintain daily labour and attendance records. Tracks hourly vacation schedules in conjunction with production manager;

Assure that assigned production employees are trained to and do follow written instruction standards;

Provide daily production reports to production manager;

Develop and recommend improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and productivity;

Review production schedules and estimate workers hours requirements for completion of job assigned;

Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations;

Interpret specifications, and job orders to workers, and assign duties;

Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and demand;

Manage production process and material flows;

Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of work crew;

Analyze and resolve work problems or assists workers in solving work problems;

Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals

Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented;

Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements;

Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspects of the job and to encourage all subordinates to do the same;

Health and Safety Responsibilities: Ensure all the subordinates follow Company policies on Health, Safety & Environment and PPE requirements;

Advise workers of any potential or actual health or safety dangers known by the Supervisor;

Provide a worker with written instructions about the measures and procedures to be taken for the worker's protection when necessary;

Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of workers;

Ensure training of workers in safe work practices and job safety requirements associated with a particular job process; i.e. provide induction training to new transferred workers and reinforcement training to regular employees;

Respond to and correct unsafe acts;

Report and investigate all incidents and accidents resulting in personal injury and property damage;

Implement an emergency plan when necessary and ensure that workers have been properly trained to comply;

Regularly evaluate worker safety performance and provide regular feedback including corrective measures;

Perform workplace inspections as designated by the Employer;

Supervisors will be evaluated once a year and will be held accountable to demonstrate their duties as listed previously; and

When contractors or visitors are in the facility or on our job sites, Supervisors will monitor their activities to ensure they are working safely and not putting workers at risk.

Knowledgeable in the industry and knows about the products and systems;

Able multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment;

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;

Able to lead and manage large groups of employees;

Write letters, memos and emails;

Communication with coworkers daily by telephone, email and in person;

Provide training and mentorship to new hires;

Demonstrate companys core values and work in a team environment; and

Ability to work independently without supervision.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Engineering or equivalent experience

3+ years in a manufacturing environment including supervisory experience.

Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises;

On site work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures;

Work environment requires having construction safety footwear, safety glasses and hard hat for all site work in certain other locations; and

Flexible to work weekends or overtime as requested.
