Masco Canada is hiring a Junior Product Engineering Designer to join the Product Engineering team in St. Thomas, ON.

The role focuses on developing, improving, and maintaining product designs, collaborating with engineers and cross‑functional teams to support launches and cost improvements. You will create accurate 3D models and drawings, document tolerances and GD&T, and contribute to continuous design enhancements while ensuring manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 1–2 years of product design or engineering drafting experience.
  • Strong CAD skills and ability to create manufacturable designs.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM), materials and production processes.
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy in technical documentation.
  • Effective problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for new and existing products.
  • Define critical drawing information including tolerances, GD&T, stack‑ups and finishes.
  • Support product development, launches and design improvements.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, quality and manufacturability standards.
  • Prepare design verification plans and FMEA documentation.

The Junior Product Engineering Designer plays a supporting role in the development, improvement, and maintenance of Masco Canada’s product designs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • This role is responsible for creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings, supporting product development initiatives, and ensuring designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability standards.
  • Working closely with engineers and cross‑functional teams, the designer contributes to new product launches, value engineering efforts, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and revise 3D models and engineering drawings for new and existing products
  • Accurately define critical drawing information including tolerance / fits, GD&T, dimensional stack up and surface finishes
  • Support product development initiatives, including new product launches and design improvements
  • Ensure all designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability standards
  • Create design verification and report (DVP & R) and failure mode effect analysis (FMEA)
  • Participate in value engineering and cost reduction efforts
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment with project goals
  • Maintain and update design documentation in accordance with internal standards and processes
  • Assist in prototyping, testing, and validation of new product designs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design tools, standards, and processes
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 1-2 years of experience in product design, or engineering drafting role
  • Strong CAD skills with the ability to create accurate, manufacturable designs
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawing standards
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM), materials, and production processes
  • Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in technical documentation
  • Effective problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot design issues
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working in cross‑functional project teams
  • Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities
  • Continuous improvement mindset, always seeking ways to enhance design efficiency and quality

Hiring Range: $52,500.00 - $82,720.00 CAD The salary range shown reflects the expected annual base salary for this open position, plus other wage amounts such as annual bonus, profit sharing, and commissions. Actual compensation may vary based on various factors including experience, education, geographic location, and/or skills.
