Gore Mutual’s Personal Insurance Underwriting team is growing! We are looking to add new team members to our National Operations Centre and set the stage for continued growth and expansion. Our Underwriters deliver genuine personal service to our brokers, listen carefully to understand their needs, and create tailored solutions blending the needs of the customer with profitable underwriting results.

This junior role is responsible for assessing and underwriting personal lines risks presented by calls and transactions aligned with corporate risk appetites. They will assist brokers with inquiries related to billing and complete transactions. Ensure risk reviews are performed within authority levels, regulatory and compliance requirements. Contribute to achieving the department's operations and quality metrics by reviewing individual performance indicators. Provide broker insights and trends to leaders and senior team members. Ensure consistent quality service is provided to broker partners by reviewing feedback from quality reviews and customer surveys.

What will you do?
  1. Provide service excellence to internal and external customers by managing individual productivity to meet service levels.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of our insurance products and how to meet client/broker needs, including cross-selling opportunities.
  3. Identify broker trends proactively and work with senior team members to create action plans.
  4. Understand acceptable risk appetite, authority levels, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  5. Apply underwriting and billing processes for all transactions.
  6. Support corporate initiatives with solutions and process improvements.
  7. Manage work duties in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, ensuring productivity measures are met for calls, transactions, and emails.
What will you need to succeed?
  1. At least 2 years of underwriting experience in personal insurance.
  2. CIP designation or working towards it preferred.
  3. Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  4. Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships.
  5. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Please note this role is hybrid, with two days a week in our Cambridge, Ontario office.
