Job summary

Worley is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer for its Vancouver, BC office to support the Mechanical and Materials Handling Group within Worley Consulting. Under supervision, you will assist with front-end studies, site inspections, equipment selection, and engineering deliverables on diverse industrial projects.

You will gain exposure to ports, marine terminals, mining, and bulk materials handling while developing technical skills in a multidisciplinary consulting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• EIT or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with EGBC.
• 2–5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience working on facilities involving moving materials and mechanical equipment.
• Experience with materials handling systems (conveyors, transfer systems, bulk handling) is an asset.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency with engineering design tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional and conceptual design of materials handling systems and mechanical equipment for industrial facilities, ports, marine terminals, mining, and related projects.
• Support development of site layouts, equipment arrangements, and preliminary equipment selection and sizing.
• Assist with engineering calculations, equipment specifications, scopes of work, and design documentation.
• Review vendor documentation, drawings, and technical submissions.
• Prepare engineering deliverables including reports, drawings, datasheets, and design documentation.
• Conduct site equipment inspections and load tests.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders; travel as required.
