Job summary

Nisga'a School District No. 92 seeks a Junior Humanities Teacher for Nisga'a Secondary School in New Aiyansh, BC.

Qualifications

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility).
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Experience delivering instruction in English, Language Arts, Social Studies, Arts Education.
  • Knowledge of the BC Curriculum, including learning standards and core competencies.

Position Overview

The Nisga'a School District is seeking a Junior Humanities Teacher to work with students at Nisga'a Secondary School. The assignment is primarily focused on English, Language Arts, Social Studies, Arts Education and other programming; however, additional courses may be assigned based on student enrollment and school needs. The role is carried out within a learning environment grounded in culture, community, and connection to the land and includes contributing to reconciliation through respectful integration of Nisga'a and Indigenous perspectives in teaching and learning, supported through collaboration, professional learning, and relationships with community.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility)
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Experience delivering instruction in English, Language Arts, Social Studies, Arts Education
  • Knowledge of the BC Curriculum, including learning standards and core competencies
