Alithya’s Mainframe Modernization team is looking for dynamic individuals to help shape and build the future of legacy application modernization. We are working on an exciting service that involves analyzing, refactoring, and deploying modern code for legacy applications, empowering our clients to achieve their boldest goals.
As a Junior Full-Stack Java Developer on this team, you will collaborate with experts throughout the entire code modernization process. Your work will enhance the performance, availability, scalability, and sustainability of clients’ applications. You will gain a deep understanding of the implementation and operation of a complex modernization system, and you will have the opportunity to work closely with an Agile team that delivers continuously, seeing the real-world impact of your contributions across a wide range of clients.
Design and code the right solutions based on broadly defined problems;
Be responsible for assisting with the development of Java and Angular applications using the Spring framework;
Write and maintain code under the supervision of a senior developer, fix bugs, perform basic troubleshooting and unit testing, and write documentation.
Bachelor’s degree in software development or Canadian equivalent;
1 to 2 years of experience in software development (internship, professional or academic experience);
Programming experience with at least one object-oriented programming language (Java preferred);
Basic understanding of data structures and algorithms;
Knowledge of Java (basic Java, OOP concepts, collections, etc.), Spring (basic Spring Boot concepts, basic REST API), Angular (TypeScript, components, basic routing), databases (relational databases, basic SQL, CRUD operations), various tools (basic Git, Maven/Gradle, IDE [Eclipse/IntelliJ] concepts) and basic unit testing (JUnit).
Knowledge of basic AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS);
Basic scripting skills (Python/Shell).
Please note that due to the nature of the responsibilities of the position, a proficient level of English is required, in particular to communicate on a daily basis with clients outside of Quebec.
