Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation in Canada is hiring a Junior Field Engineer to support project teams with technical tasks including coordination, documentation review, and cost estimation. The role involves liaising with client construction management, reviewing client-supplied documents, and assisting in preparing execution plans and schedules.

Based at the Syncrude Aurora site, the position offers Fort McMurray lodging or camp accommodations and flexible shifts (10/4 or 14/7).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or diploma in engineering technology.
  • 0-2 years of experience on industrial construction projects.
  • Basic understanding of Project Controls and Scheduling.
  • Industrial construction experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to project teams, including review of client-supplied documentation, calculations, recommendations and interpretation of applicable codes.
  • Liaise with client’s construction management team through RFIs and Change Management documentation.
  • Support and uphold Primoris Canada’s Safety Values.
  • Assist with the preparation of execution plans, schedules and budget estimates.
  • Assist with the preparation of Materials and Subcontractor Requisitions, including specifying the materials or scope of work to be procured as well as research approved alternative materials and products.
  • Provide assistance to the Site Superintendent with constructability reviews of future projects.
  • Bid coordination and planning including preparation of scope of work documentation for sub-contractors, evaluation of sub-contractor quotations, and supporting project manager with award of sub-contracts.
  • Assist with the receipt, tracking, distribution and maintenance of current project drawings, specifications, RFIs and revisions in accordance with project document-control procedures.
  • Assist with identifying, documenting and tracking changes in scope, including compiling supporting quantities, records and information for evaluation of cost and schedule impacts.
  • Identify and setup pay items and develop WBS with Project Management Team to align with internal and external reporting requirements and project estimate.
  • Work with project controls to measure and validate field progress on scope and additional work as well as updating project schedule.
  • Understand project scope of work and general overview of project contract.
  • Support with completion of material take-offs from project drawings.
  • Assist Quality Control with site inspections, document turnover, and completion of as-built drawings.
  • Various other duties as requested by management.

Job Overview

SUMMARY The Field Engineer (Junior) is an integral part of the project team responsible for providing technical support to the project manager and site superintendent with Subcontractor coordination, material coordinating, estimating, engineering, and/or project control activities.


Location: Syncrude Aurora site


Start: TBD - Expression of Interest


Shift: TBD - 10/4 or 14/7


Accommodations: Fort McMurray local or Camp provided


Job Duties

  • Basic understanding of Project Controls and Scheduling
