Job summary

Egis Canada is seeking a motivated Junior Environmental Scientist to join our team in Ontario. You will conduct Phase I/II ESAs and related assessments, perform fieldwork and reporting for hydrogeological studies, and support large infrastructure projects across the province.

The role requires 1–2 years in environmental consulting, strong report writing, knowledge of CSA and Ontario regulations, and a valid driver's license with willingness to travel.

Qualifications

  • University or college education in environmental science, geology, engineering, biology, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in environmental consulting, with Phase I/II ESAs, hydrogeological assessments or excess soils projects.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04, Ontario Regulation 406/19, and CSA guidelines.
  • Strong fieldwork execution and sampling protocol skills.
  • Excellent technical report writing and regulatory documentation.
  • Willingness to travel and hold a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase I/II ESAs and Remediations to CSA and O.Reg. 153/04 standards.
  • Conduct sampling and reporting for Excess Soils projects (O.Reg. 406/19).
  • Perform fieldwork and reporting for Hydrogeological Assessments including groundwater sampling.
  • Contribute to major infrastructure projects across the province.
  • Travel and/or work nights and weekends occasionally; work outdoors in challenging conditions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About the Role

About the Role: We are looking for a motivated Junior Environmental Scientist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Conduct Phase I/II ESAs and Remediations, both to CSA and O.Reg. 153/04 Standards;
  • Conduct sampling and reporting associated with Excess Soils project (O.Reg. 406/19);
  • Conduct fieldwork and reporting associated with Hydrogeological Assessments, including but not limited to infiltration testing, pumping tests, single-well response tests, and groundwater sampling;
  • Perform fieldwork and reporting associated with major projects, including 'nation-builder' infrastructure jobs across the province;
  • Travel and/or work nights and weekends occasionally, work outdoors in challenging conditions, as required; and
  • Perform other duties as may be required.
What do we need from you

The successful candidate must possess:

  • University or collegeeducation in environmental science, geology, engineering, biology, or a related field;
  • 1-2years of demonstrated experience in environmental consulting, with proven proficiency in Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological assessments, and/or excess soils projects;
  • Technical knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04, Ontario Regulation 406/19, and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) guidelines;
  • Demonstrated competency in fieldwork execution, including sampling protocols and soil/groundwater assessment techniques;
  • Excellent technical report writing, note-taking, and documentation skills with attention to regulatory compliance;
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel;
  • Strong communication andcoordination abilities; and
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in fast-paced environments.
