Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks an Electrical Engineer to support nuclear projects in Ontario. You will lead design activities, prepare drawings, calculations, and specifications, and coordinate with clients and vendors.

You will mentor junior engineers, conduct site walkdowns, and manage scopes within budget and schedule while ensuring quality. Strong knowledge of MV/LV distribution and CANDU electrical systems is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and eligibility to register.
  • Master’s degree preferred in Power Engineering and Distribution systems.
  • 0–2+ years' experience in electrical engineering and nuclear industry power systems.
  • Experience with sizing of cables, breakers, cable trays, transformers per OESC/CEC/ESA codes.
  • ETAP or similar modelling software preferred.
  • Site experience in construction or commissioning (asset).
  • Strong knowledge of CANDU electrical systems.
  • Fundamentals of electrical power engineering.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary work.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills.

  • Conduct field walkdowns; prepare reports; lead field changes and commissioning.
  • Manage assigned scopes within budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Provide prompt technical resolutions for engineering issues.

Job Description Overview

Role

Your role Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, codes, and regulatory requirements. Lead and contribute to conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activities. Prepare engineering deliverables: drawings (GAs, DDs, EDs), calculations, reports, design manuals, specifications, BOMs. Coordinate with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary design teams. Prepare EQRs, provide procurement technical support, and interface with vendors. Collaborate, mentor, and review the work of junior/assistant engineers and designers. Conduct field walkdowns; prepare reports; lead or support field changes, commissioning, AFS, and closeout activities. Manage assigned scopes within budget, schedule, and quality expectations. Provide prompt technical resolutions for engineering issues.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; and eligible to register. Master’s degree is preferred in Power Engineering and Distribution systems. Experience in previous large and mega design‑build projects. 0 - 2+ years' experience in electrical engineering and nuclear industry power systems. Experienced in designing cable sizing, breaker sizing, cable tray sizing, transformer sizing and picking power electrical components as per OESC, CEC, ESA codes. Experience with ETAP or similar modelling software is preferred. Site experience in construction or commissioning (asset). Strong knowledge of CANDU electrical systems is preferred. Strong in fundamentals of electrical power engineering. Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary work. Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary work. Proficiency in MV/LV distribution, SLDs, diagrams, load lists, transformer/cable/breaker sizing. Strong communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills.
