Job description

Imagine Everything is an education technology company guided by the vision of school boards and fueled by the innovation of private industry software developers. We’re a company without clients, a hybrid community of builders who believe in partnership between the public and private sectors. We design affordable software for schools that creates safer online space for students and more efficient tools for teachers.

Greetings cloud wizard! We need a Junior DevOps Engineer that can help power the future of education technology. Working with cutting edge solutions like Terraform, Rancher and Kubernetes, you’ll play a critical role in student safety, enterprise school website management, and student planning software.

If Terraform, Rancher, Kubernetes, and AWS gets you excited, and CI/CD pipeline automation is part of your magic portfolio, this might be the gig for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Infrastructure as code – assist in managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Automation and CI/CD - help streamline and maintain the CI/CD pipeline for our projects, ensuring smooth deployment and minimal downtime.
  • Monitoring and performance - work with monitoring tools and track system performance and identify areas of improvement; using your wizardry you’ll also help make suggestions for cost optimization using technology and efficiency plans.
  • Security and compliance - learn and apply best practices for securing cloud environments and ensuring compliance with industry standards and our school districts’ requirements.
  • Collaboration and learning - working closely with our Director of Engineering and our various partners, you’ll gain hands on experience with bleeding edge technology.
  • Problem-solving - troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues, contributing to system reliability and performance, and supporting our engineering and product teams as needed.
What You Need
  • 1-3 years of experience in a dedicated DevOps or related field (or a very strong personal project demonstrating your DevOps skills).
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as Terraform and Kubernetes as well as specific AWS offerings including EC2, Route53, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and more.
  • Scripting and automation skills (experience with Bash, Node, Golang would be an asset).
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git, Github Actions, Argo, Jenkins, or similar tools).
  • Curiosity and a pro-active attitude - you’re eager to learn new technologies and not shy about advocating for the latest best practices.
  • Passion for problem solving and optimization - you love making things run smoothly and efficiently.
Why You’ll Love Us
  • You’ll work for an organization that has purpose; we’re not just punching a clock, our solutions save lives and dramatically improve the quality of life for students, teachers, and support staff.
  • We have a flexible work environment: we’re fully remote (no headquarters).
  • There is an incredible opportunity to grow in this role, working with a talented start-up minded team.
  • An awesome team of passionate people who love what they do.
Requirements
  • You must be a permanent resident or citizen of Canada.
  • You must speak professional-level English.
  • You must be able to provide two working references from a direct supervisor.
  • It wouldn’t hurt if you liked Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or motorcycles (these are considered strong, but optional assets).
Remuneration
  • $65,000 - $85,000 based on experience.
  • 4 weeks of vacation time + 6 paid personal days.
  • Excellent benefits package.
  • Allowance for learning.
  • Stock options.
