Job summary

New Flyer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is seeking a Junior Designer to contribute to electrical checkouts and PLC programming from concept to production. You will create engineering designs, perform tests, and support related departments across production sites.

The role requires collaboration with vendors and customers on design issues, with travel to the US up to 15% as needed. Graduate engineers with 1–2 years of design experience are favored, and PLC programming is considered a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an Engineering technical institute/university in electrical engineering.
  • Design-related experience of 1–2 years preferred.
  • PLC programming experience is an asset.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to the US (less than 15%).

Responsibilities

  • Create engineering designs, especially PLC programs, that meet customer functionality requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Write electrical checkout procedures for testing vehicles prior to delivery.
  • Create programs and configuration files for engines, fans, and propulsion components.
  • Provide engineering support to production, QA, and customer service, remotely or onsite as required.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on design issues.
  • Participate in product and process improvement initiatives as required.

As aJuniorDesigner you will be accountable for completion of engineering design tasks and projects, primarily related to electrical checkouts and PLC programming,from concept to implementation in production. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications,drawings,and billsof materials

  • Create engineering designs, especially PLC programs, that meet customer functionality requirementsand applicable regulations.
  • Write electrical checkout procedures that allow proper testing of vehicles prior to delivery.
  • Create other programs and configuration files as needed for engines, fans, hybrid propulsion systems, gateway modules, and other components as needed.
  • Provide engineering support to production, quality assurance, customer service support, and other departments, remotely or onsite at production facilitiesasrequired.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues.
  • Participate in product and process improvement initiatives asrequired.
  • Graduate from an Engineering technical institute/University in electrical engineering
  • Design-related experience of 1-2 years is preferred.
  • PLC programming experience is an asset
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel to the US (less than 15%)
