Job summary

McElhanney Ltd. in Kamloops, BC, is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer (EIT) to join our Land Development team, with an anticipated start date of May 2027 or after graduation.

This role blends office and field work, supporting site grading, roadworks, stormwater and municipal infrastructure, while benefiting from mentorship from industry professionals. Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Registration in good standing as an engineer-in-training (EIT) in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a team.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Live in or be able to commute to Kamloops, BC, with availability to start in May 2027.

Responsibilities

• Provide design support for land development projects including site grading, roadworks, stormwater, servicing, utilities, and related municipal infrastructure.
• Assist in preparing design drawings in Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Prepare construction cost estimates at various stages of development.
• Assist in preparation of approval, tender and contract documents.
• Complete field inspections to monitor quality and progress of work.
• Prepare and adhere to site-specific health and safety plans.
• Support other departments (survey and environmental) to learn holistic project execution.
• Collaborate with team to meet schedules, budgets, and quality control standards.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
