Job summary

Process Ecology Inc. is seeking a Junior Business Development and Sales Engineer in Calgary, a hybrid role combining client engagement with process engineering support. Recent chemical engineering graduates join to develop client opportunities and communicate the value of our engineering services and software.

You will grow in a team that mentors engineers and specialists in process simulation and emissions management, with blended work from our Calgary office and remote days.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • 0–2 years professional experience, recent graduate suited.
  • Interest in process engineering, optimization and emissions management preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing work.
  • Self-motivated with initiative in a small team.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada and located in Calgary office.

Responsibilities

  • Support identification and development of new business opportunities with prospective clients in the energy sector.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, quotes, and sales materials communicating value of services and software.
  • Learn Process Ecology’s process simulation tools and emissions management software to support client conversations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, client interactions, and pipeline opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, understanding needs and connecting to solutions.
  • Collaborate with process engineering and air emissions teams to ensure technically sound proposals.
  • Represent Process Ecology in client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Take on process engineering or simulation-related project support to build skills alongside business development.

The Position

We are seeking a motivated, recent chemical engineering graduate to join our team as a Junior Business Development and Sales Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career with an interest in process engineering, process optimization, and emissions reductions, who wants to build a career at the intersection of technical problem-solving and client relationships. You will support our business development efforts, identify and develop new client opportunities, and work closely with our technical teams to communicate the value of Process Ecology’s engineering services and software. You will receive mentorship and training from our team as you grow into the role.

What to Expect
  • Base salary of $60,000–$70,000, plus variable compensation.
  • This is a 1-year term employment position, with the opportunity for extension based on performance and business needs.
  • Comprehensive group benefits, including health and dental coverage, following successful completion of the 3-month probationary period.
  • The position is available effective immediately.
  • This position is based in our Calgary office, with a hybrid arrangement of up to 2 days per week working from home. This is not a fully remote position.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support the identification and development of new business opportunities with prospective clients in the energy industry.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, quotes, and sales materials that communicate the value of Process Ecology’s engineering services and software applications.
  • Develop a working understanding of Process Ecology’s process simulation tools and emissions management software to effectively support client conversations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activity, client interactions, and pipeline opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, understanding their needs and connecting them with the right solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with our process engineering and air emissions teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound and aligned with client needs.
  • Represent Process Ecology professionally in client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Take on process engineering or simulation-related project support as opportunities arise, to continue building technical skills alongside business development experience.
The Candidate

Individuals with the following traits, skills and experiences should apply:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • 0 to 2 years of professional experience. This position is well suited to a recent graduate.
  • A demonstrated interest in process engineering, process optimization, and emissions management and reduction is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a clear interest in client-facing and business development work.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and comfortable taking initiative in a small-team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must currently be living in Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to work from our Calgary, AB office. This role is hybrid, with up to 2 days per week from home, and is not available on a fully remote basis.
