Job summary

Alberta Retired Teachers' Association (ARTA) is seeking a Junior Business Analyst in Edmonton to support and optimize our information systems. Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent.
• 1–5 years of related experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, CRM functionality, data management, and end-user support.
• Experience with Power BI dashboards, datasets, and BI development.
• Knowledge of Business Central/BC365 and related processes.
• Familiarity with SharePoint, SQL Server, and reporting tools.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, datasets, and BI tools using Power BI, Report Builder, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, and other reporting platforms.
• Support business process improvements through Power Apps, automation tools, data validation, and system enhancements.
• Work with business users to translate reporting, workflow, data, and application needs into practical system improvements.
• Assist with testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and training related to Microsoft business applications and integrated system enhancements.
• Monitor and support data consistency, quality, security, and privacy across connected systems.

Junior Business Analyst (Permanent, Full-Time)

Overview

Reporting to the Director, Information Systems, the Junior Business Analyst will support and optimize ARTA’s existing information systems and provide input into future revisions and development of new systems. This position will be responsible for assisting senior business analysts in the administration, support, optimization, and ongoing improvement of multiple integrated information systems.

A key focus of this role will be supporting Microsoft business applications, including Dynamics 365, Business Central 365, Power BI, Power Apps, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft SQL Server, Report Builder, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, DocuWare, and BusinessConnect/RingCentral.

What You Will Do

• Ensure the integrity and quality of systems data.
• Support the administration, configuration, testing, and ongoing improvement of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central 365, Power BI, Power Apps, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Assist with the integration of Microsoft business applications, including data flows, reporting structures, workflows, and connections between Dynamics 365, Business Central 365, Power BI, Power Apps, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, and related systems.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, datasets, and business intelligence tools using Power BI, Report Builder, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, and other reporting platforms.
• Support business process improvements through the use of Power Apps, automation tools, data validation, and system enhancements.
• Work with business users to understand reporting, workflow, data, and application needs, and translate those needs into practical system improvements.
• Assist with testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and training related to Microsoft business applications and integrated system enhancements.
• Monitor and support data consistency, quality, security, and privacy across connected systems, including Dynamics 365, Business Central 365, Power BI, Power Apps, Microsoft Fabric, and SQL Server.
• Provide end-user support coverage by responding to user queries, trouble shooting systems, and solving technical problems, as required.
• Contribute to the ARTA team by performing other reasonable duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.
• 1 – 5 years of experience in a related field.
• Experience with or exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365, including CRM functionality, data management, configuration, reporting, and end-user support.
• Experience with or exposure to Business Central/BC365, including supporting finance, operational, membership, billing, or related business processes.
• Experience with Power BI, including dashboards, reports, datasets, data modelling, and business intelligence development.
• Experience with or exposure to Power Apps, including app configuration, workflow support, business process automation, and low-code/no-code application development.
• Experience with or exposure to Microsoft Fabric, including data integration, analytics, reporting, or enterprise data platform concepts.
• Experience supporting Microsoft business applications both independently and as part of an integrated systems environment.
• Experience working with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, SQL Server, Report Builder, and related reporting or data-management tools.
• An understanding of system integrations, data flows, business processes, and how information moves between enterprise applications.
• The ability to investigate system issues, analyze data, document requirements, and support practical improvements across connected platforms.
• 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate business needs; occasional evenings may be required.
• Primarily office-based with hybrid eligibility, with onsite attendance aligned to ARTA policies and organizational needs.
• Occasional offsite work and travel for meetings or events.
