Job description

ABOUT YOU:

We're looking for a Junior Application Engineer to join our Customer Success team. You are a technical person who likes building relationships and talking to customers. You enjoy explaining things, answering questions, and solving customer problems, and you're not intimidated by a room full of people, whether that’s a dealer training session or an engineering meeting. If you're an engineer that is social and outgoing, we can teach you gas detection.

You'll start closer to the day-to-day: project design, quotes and technical support. That's how you learn the product line and what matters to our dealers. From there it grows to include specifying systems, drawings and submittals, sales calls, dealer training and engineering sessions.

This is a customer-facing engineering track, not a product development one. If your ambition is R&D, this isn't the seat.

ABOUT US:

Help us make safer air available everywhere

Critical Environment Technologies (CET) is the largest independent commercial gas-detection manufacturer in North America. We design, manufacture, and service gas-detection systems that integrate with HVAC and building automation and controls systems across commercial, institutional, municipal, and industrial applications—from parking facilities and refrigeration plants to arenas, wineries, swimming pools, and water-treatment facilities.

Our products are used across every US state and Canadian province and in more than 20 countries. Continued investment in research and development keeps our equipment and our people at the leading edge of a rapidly evolving industry.

Our mission, Safer Air Everywhere, has never been more important. It guides how we develop products, serve customers, protect the environment, and work together.

We’re a growing, collaborative team where people are encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas, and make a meaningful impact. Our culture is built around five straightforward values:

  • Stay curious.
  • Give a sh*t about our work and each other.
  • Get things done.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Act with integrity.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Field technical questions from customers and dealers, and prepare the quotes, orders, and supporting documents that follow
  • Review plans and project specifications received from customers
  • Design gas detection systems for the application and specify the right equipment
  • Create project drawings and submittal packages for dealers and engineers
  • Provide post-sale technical and installation support on the projects you work on
  • Join sales calls and customer meetings as the technical expert
  • Deliver technical training to dealers, technicians, and engineers
  • Contribute to product direction by sharing what you learn in the field with the broader CET team
  • Travel as required (25%)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Engineering degree or diploma in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present to a group in person and/or virtually
BONUS:
  • Industry Experience - Experience with Gas Detection, HVAC, and/or Instrumentation
  • Plans/Drafting - Familiar with building plans and software used to edit them
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
  • Competitive base salary with profit sharing
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 3 weeks of paid vacation
  • Strong company culture and an opportunity to grow with an industry leader
