Horizon Recruitmentis working with a well-financed mining company based in Vancouver that is preparing for a transition to public markets. With a fully permitted asset recently acquired and operations expected to restart in the near future, the company is expanding its finance team to support day-to-day accounting operations. As part of this buildout, they are hiring aJunior Accountant(AP/AR) to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments and customer receivables during this critical phase of growth.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Junior Accountant (AP/AR) will be responsible for the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable processes, vendor management, invoice matching, and payment processing. This is a great opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented accounting professional to join a small but growing team and contribute to building a smooth and scalable finance function.

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, verify approvals, and ensure proper GL coding
  • Prepare and process weekly payment runs (EFTs, wires, and cheques)
  • Track and follow up on outstanding receivables and customer payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized records of payables and receivables in the accounting system
  • Support month-end activities including AP/AR reconciliations and accruals
  • Assist with preparing reports for management and auditors
  • Contribute to improving and documenting accounting procedures and controls

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in a full-cycle AP and/or AR role
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or project-based environment is an asset
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and AP/AR processes
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite) and Excel
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Experience in the mining or natural resources sector is an asset but not required

Remuneration

  • Salary: $60,000–$65,000 base (depending on experience)
  • Annual bonus opportunity
