Qualifications

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 1-3 years experience in an accounting role including internships.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Accounting team with financial reporting and month-end tasks.
  • Support year-end close processes and client billing reconciliations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.

Job description

The Junior Accountant supports the daily operations of the accounting function and assists senior accountants within Blackstones growing 8person finance and accounting team. This person will help maintain accurate financial records assist with transactional accounting tasks and support monthly close activities. The Junior Accountant plays an essential part in ensuring financial integrity and supporting scalable processes as the company expands. This is an ideal opportunity for a detailoriented proactive individual looking to grow their accounting career in a collaborative and purposedriven environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Work with Senior Accounting team in the preparation of financial reporting for the Blackstone Group of companies within corporate deadlines
  • Assist team leads on the AR and AP functions and train on the varying steps of the process
  • Contribute to monthend P&L review
  • Support yearend close processes and assemble documentation and information for external audit
  • Prepare monthend reconciliations including client billings supplier invoices bank recs client rebates transactional processes
  • Assist with tracking customer deposit accounts and ensure proper documentation (invoice vs. progress approval certificate) is issued to draw down funds
  • Collaborate with internal partners and departments for financerelated requests and queries
  • Identify improvement opportunities in systems / processes
  • Conduct special projects as assigned
  • Manage conflicting priorities

QUALIFICATIONS :

Recent graduate from a postsecondary / University Degree with a concentration in finance or accounting

13 years experience in an accounting and / or financial reporting role (including summer jobs and / or coop

experience)

Proficiency with Quickbooks and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel

Strong analytic problem solving and critical thinking skills

Effective time management and organization skills

Detail oriented

Excellent oral and written communication skills

The ability to work independently and in a team environment

Demonstrated ability to work in a fastpaced deadline oriented and projectbased environment

Bookkeeping and data analytics experience an asset
