Nokia is seeking a Software Developer at its Kanata site in Ottawa, Ontario. In this role, you will develop software features for our cutting-edge Service Router Operating System, collaborating closely with product managers and QA engineers to ensure high-quality outcomes. You will take full ownership of specific modules, integrating new requirements, and testing alongside our dedicated teams.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a passion for effective coding. We offer a range of benefits including health and dental plans, retirement savings, and stock purchase options.
At Nokia, we believe in subject matter expertise and strong code ownership. Our development process is intentionally streamlined to allow developers to focus on what they do best—writing great code. With minimal overhead, developers collaborate directly with product managers, peer designers, and QA teams. If you take pride in your code, you’ll feel right at home here. Our Kanata site serves as a major R&D hub within our international team, contributing to key areas across all our products and offering rich opportunities for growth. These components include embedded platform OS/driver development (64‑bit SMP), Linux technologies (Yocto, KVM, QEMU, libvirt, Python3), data path engineering (proprietary network processors, third‑party and virtualized), control plane protocols (IP/MPLS), OAM (CFM, EFM, TWAMP, performance monitoring), timing systems (PTP, NTP, SyncE, SETS, BITS, GNSS), PHY and optics (Ethernet PHY, MAC, SerDes, clock recovery, 100/400 G optical transceivers), deep packet inspection (application assurance), management interfaces (SNMP, NETCONF, YANG), and network function virtualization (VSR). As part of our team you’ll be immersed in our development culture, mentored by top‑tier software developers who take pride in their code, and work closely with our verification team to deliver high‑quality software.
Aptitude and attitude are more important than specific experience criteria. If you have a strong willingness to learn you are a candidate for our team.
We act inclusively and respect the uniqueness of people. Our employment decisions are made regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by law. We are committed to a culture of inclusion built upon our core value of respect.
The above benefits exclude students.
