Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is a leading Canadian nuclear engineering group delivering design and analysis services for the nuclear sector. We are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and ageing management for nuclear power plants and industrial facilities.

You will use ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro and other tools, ensure codes compliance, deliver engineering packages on schedule, and mentor designers within a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university with 2+ years' structural analysis and design in nuclear or industrial buildings.
  • Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Canada; Ontario licensure preferred.
  • 1–3 years of site/field experience in nuclear or industrial facilities is a plus.
  • Experience with static, dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear QA guidelines and safety codes is an asset.
  • Familiarity with modification processes for Nuclear Power Plants (ECC or similar) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and design of structures.
  • Prepare design calculations for steel, reinforced concrete and masonry.
  • Analyze systems using ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI and other tools.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulations for permits and plans.
  • Deliver engineering deliverables within timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical instructions to designers and review work for accuracy.
  • Participate in design reviews and walkdowns as required.
  • Support design modifications and related plant walkdowns.

Overview

Your role
  • Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents and compile engineering packages.
  • Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs using ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI and other structural programs.
  • Ensure Compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations, and ensuring the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.
  • Accountable for the delivery of all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical instructions to designers to develop engineering documentation.
  • Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
  • Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
  • Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications.
About you
  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University with minimum 2 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings. Master’s degree and above is an asset.
  • Must be Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada. Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • 1 to 3 years of site or field experience in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings is an asset.
  • Must have experience with static, dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.
  • Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar is an asset.
  • Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures, knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations is an asset.
