Job summary

ENMAX Power Corporation seeks a Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT) for a limited-term assignment in Calgary. Under supervision, you will perform electrical construction, maintenance, and testing on energized and de-energized lines, with live-line work to 25kV and underground splicing.

A strong safety record and Alberta licensing are required. The role supports Distribution Services / Field Resources and requires adherence to SOPs/SWP, plus the ability to operate under provincial

Qualifications

• Qualified Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT).
• Experience with rubber glove live line work up to 25kV is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SOPs and SWPs and safety practices.
• Valid Alberta driver’s license; interprovincial equivalency may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical construction, maintenance, repair or testing on energized and de-energized lines under supervision.
• Work with live line techniques using rubber gloves up to 25kV.
• Underground splicing, terminating and cable pulling.
• Ensure safety and compliance with Alberta regulations and ENMAX SOPs.

Responsibilities:

• Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations
• Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment, and work sites
• Familiar with confined and restricted space work requirements
• As a Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT) you will under direct supervision, perform activities related to the electrical construction, maintenance, repair or testing on energized and de-energized power lines, as required up to system voltage limits
• Have skills in live line technique using rubber gloves on voltages up to, and including 25kv
• Perform underground splicing, terminating and cable pulling
• Recognize, assess and control potentially hazardous situations in the work environment
• Function effectively as an integral part of a work group
• Work safely in all conditions and possess knowledge of Industry standard safe working practices
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

• Must meet ENMAX Corporation's requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act with respect to the related electrical trade
• Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)
• Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver's license, upgrade as required
• Qualified as Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT) and be willing and able to obtain an interprovincial equivalency
• General knowledge of the principals involved in the construction and maintenance of underground cable installations
• Experience in rubber glove live line work (Preference will be given to applicants with 25kv rubber glove experience as well as underground splicing and terminating)
• Knowledge of the Electrical and Communications Utility Systems (E.C.U.C.- Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations as they pertain to the trade
• Knowledge of Industry standard safe working practices
