Job summary

Dawson Road Maintenance is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to service our fleet of trucks and equipment in Fort St. John, BC. This seasonal, full-time role reports to the Mechanical Foreman and requires a safety-conscious, production-driven technician capable of diagnostics and repairs in a dynamic shop environment.

Based in Fort St. John with potential travel across the province, you will perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, maintain quality workmanship, and collaboratively ensure

Qualifications

• 3rd or 4th year apprentice in Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic.
• Journeyman Certificate is an asset.
• Experience and / or certification in Automotive Mechanic is an asset.
• Grade 12 education; up-to-date technical knowledge since TQ certification.
• BC Driver's License, Class 5 (Class 3 with Air is an asset).
• CVIP Inspection license preferred, or willing to acquire.
• Welding experience is an asset.
• Capable of performing heavy physical duties.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prioritizes safety of self and team.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all policies and procedures
• Prioritize a safe working environment
• Liaise with management to ensure a smooth flow of communication during repairs or maintenance work
• Always strive to exceed industry standard by providing quality workmanship
• Perform daily bay inspections to ensure shop neatness/cleanliness, and safety
• Work closely as a team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently
• Effectively work in all weather conditions and have the flexibility to work shift work if necessary

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic who will use their skills to tackle machinery challenges, ensuring our fleet of heavy-duty equipment operates with excellence.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a seasonal, full-time position of Heavy Duty Mechanic, reporting to the Mechanical Foreman. This position requires a skilled and experienced technician; one who is safety-conscious, production oriented, and self-motivated to perform diagnostic and repair work on a variety of trucks and equipment. Your base location will be Fort St. John, BC and may require some travel throughout our great province.

What You Bring

• Journeyman Certificate is an asset

• Preferably Grade 12 education; and up-to-date technical knowledge acquired through trade-related courses since achieving TQ certification
• BC Driver's License, minimum Class 5. Class 3 with Air is an asset
