Job summary

Strike Group is seeking Journeyperson Instrumentation Technicians to support the E&I team on local and site projects across Alberta. You will work with pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control process variables, and you will calibrate, repair, and install instruments on new or existing equipment.

This role requires a valid Journeyperson certificate, willingness to indenture as an Apprentice Electrician, Swagelok Installation training, and willingness to travel to work sites.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Journeyperson certificate issued by the appropriate authority.
• Willing to be indentured as an Apprentice Electrician.
• Swagelok Installation training completed.

Responsibilities

• Work with pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables.
• Test and calibrate flowmeters, gauges, indicators, and controllers.
• Calibrate, repair, and install instruments on existing or new equipment.
• Prepare drawings, sketches, and reports of changes made.
• Assist in estimating as required.

The E&I team works on local projects as well as site projects located in Western Canada. Employees are expected to support and participate in a "culture of safety" and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike's Code of Conduct and Values, treating others with dignity, respect, and fairness.

Location: All Areas, Alberta

Job Specifications

• Leave of Absence (LOA) provided

Core Accountabilities

• Work with a variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, and composition.
• Test accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments.
• Calibrate, repair, maintain, and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments on new or existing equipment.
• Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
• Assist in estimating as required.

Qualifications

Education

• Must possess a valid Journeyperson certificate issued by the appropriate provincial or federal authority.
• Must be willing to be indentured as an Apprentice Electrician.
• Must have successfully completed the Swagelok Installation training course.

Experience

• Tubing experience and knowledge is required.
• Strong commissioning skills and experience would be an asset.
• Extensive experience in the construction, repair, and alteration of instrument tubing.
• Experience in mining and pulp and paper industries is an asset.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
• Must be willing to travel to work sites.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.
