The Journeyperson, HVAC/Mechanic provides a safe and functional hospital environment by inspecting, repairing and doing preventative maintenance on Southlake’s Mechanical systems, buildings, grounds, engineering systems and equipment. This position is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance and monitoring of the Air Handling units, BAS, heating, cooling equipment HEPA filters, isolation systems and unit filters. The Journeyperson will be responsible for various aspects of preventative maintenance and repairs as directed by the Supervisor and Manager of Facility Operations.
• Provincial (Ontario) professional certification or degree: Refrigeration 313(A), Millwright preferred or Licensed Gas Fitter or Licensed Red Seal Steam Fitter or Valid 309A Electrician License.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with a license in an Industrial, Commercial or Hospital setting
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Building Automation Systems preferred
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health care environment preferred with knowledge on systems such as Air Handling Units, HEPA Filters & Isolation systems
• Grade 12 education
• Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives, 600 Volt Motors and
• Working knowledge of the current provincial and federal codes including: CSA Z317.2:19
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems, installing and servicing bearing
• Ability to maintain proper records as required by provincial regulatory bodies including: Ontario Electrical Safety Authority
• Ability to interpret detailed construction drawings and specifications
• Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated problem assessment skills
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
• Demonstrated individual leadership skills
Regular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.
