Job summary

West Cirque Construction in Lethbridge is seeking a Journeyperson Carpenter to join our team. You will complete carpentry work for multi-family residential projects, ensure quality and code compliance, and mentor junior crew.

Reporting to the site superintendent, you will perform frame checks, support subtrades, and uphold safety standards while delivering high-quality finishes on schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential framing is required.
• Journeyperson Carpenter or enrolment in a 4th year apprenticeship is accepted.
• Finish carpentry experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of building code and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete carpentry work and ensure quality management on site.
• Adhere to building codes and safety policies on all sites.
• Oversee subtrades and perform frame and mechanical checks.
• Mentor junior workers and coordinate with the site superintendent.
• Maintain site cleanliness and perform touch-ups as needed.
• Operate power tools and report issues promptly.

Summary

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Journeyperson Carpenter selected will be responsible for the completion of carpentry work and quality management, ensuring the compliance with local building code and company safety policy. The Journeyman Carpenter is also responsible for general site maintenance and clean-up as needed.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to building code and corporate safety requirements on all sites
• Carpentry work that falls outside of the scope of work of subtrades
• Oversight of subtrade work
• Perform touch ups and repairs on subtrade deficiencies
• Perform frame checks and mechanical checks
• Finish carpentry work
• Quality management inspections and reporting
• Report issues as they arise to the superintendent
• Proficient knowledge and use of power tools such as air nailers, skill saw, screw gun
• Mentor novice workers
• Other tasks as required by the site foreman / site superintendent

Requirements

• Experience in residential framing
• Journeyperson Carpenter or enrollment in apprenticeship program as a 4th year Apprentice Carpenter
• Experience in finish carpentry is an asset
• Quality control experience for framing is an asset
• Equipment operation experience is an asset (zoom boom / skid steer)
• Knowledge of building code and safety code requirements
• Be organized, interpersonal and strong communicator with the ability to build excellent relationships with subtrades and workers on site
• Candidate must have excellent time management skills, have the ability to prioritize work and be results driven
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong understanding of quality standards
• Highly organized, results-oriented and able to work in a multi-functional team environment
