The Role

This role will be providing service to our clients in the Downtown Vancouver Area. As a service electrician at IGC, you are the face of the company to our clients while on site. It is of utmost importance that the ideal candidate for this role is comfortable communicating professionally in person, as well as digitally. The successful candidate will be required to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of electrical assets, create accurate work orders and estimates for repairs, and communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs and service required. The successful candidate will be expected to be tech‑savvy, a team player that possesses the technical knowledge to investigate and troubleshoot with a high degree of proficiency while reporting findings quickly and in detail.

What You’ll Do
  • Install, service, and repair a range of commercial electrical systems, equipment, and components, including coffee machines, ovens (electric and gas), dishwashers, and water filtration systems.
  • Run conduit, pull wire, terminate conductors, and install fixtures and devices in commercial applications.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, replacing defective components and ensuring long‑term system reliability.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to uphold safety standards and optimal system performance.
  • Manage materials and parts for each assignment, including ordering and inventory tracking through the internal computer system.
  • Complete work orders in line with client specifications, review completed work with customers, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and layouts to plan and execute electrical installations accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare proactively for upcoming projects to ensure efficient job execution.
  • Provide accurate project estimates and complete tasks within defined timelines.
  • Communicate regularly with the Facilities Services Manager, dispatch, and installation teams to coordinate work.
  • Hold a valid Driver’s License with a clean record, be comfortable with long‑distance driving (paid travel), and be able to lift 50–100 lbs.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidays (this role is not limited to Monday–Friday, 9–5).

  • A licensed Journeyperson Electrician (Red Seal) with a solid understanding of electrical systems, tools, and equipment.
  • Someone skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics with precision.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently and safely.
  • A detail‑oriented problem solver who works well independently or as part of a team.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, with a commitment to going above and beyond for clients.
  • Comfortable using mobile apps and digital tools for record keeping, communication, and daily tasks.
  • A strong focus on safety practices and attention to detail in every aspect of the job.
  • Holds a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and can provide a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Clean criminal record (required).
