Job summary

Bidell Gas Compression in Fort St. John, BC is seeking a Journeyman Shift Mechanic to install, maintain and troubleshoot natural gas engines and compressors at client sites.

The ideal candidate will hold a Journeyman Mechanic or Millwright ticket, have Cat and Waukesha VHP experience, and be comfortable with on-call rotations and safety policies.

Your communication skills and reliability will support customers across Western Canada in a high‑performing technical team.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Mechanic or Millwright ticket required.
• 2 weeks on and 2 off shift rotation.
• Strong knowledge of natural gas engines, compressors and pumps.
• Cat and Waukesha VHP experience preferred.
• Motivated, organized and customer-focused.
• Excellent communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas engines and compressors.
• Collaborate with clients to ensure safe, efficient operation and timely service.
• Participate in on-call rotation and adhere to company policies.
• Maintain clean driving record and operate company vehicles safely.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Journeyman Shift Mechanic based out of Fort St John, BC in a rotational camp mechanic position to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing on-site technical support, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of natural gas engines and compressors at our client’s location. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Including but are not limited to the following)

• Journeyman Mechanic or Millwright
• 2 weeks on and 2 off shift
• Have excellent knowledge of natural gas engines, compressors, pumps and air compressors
• Cat and Waukesha VHP experienced required.
• Be motivated and well organized.
• Have strong customer service and communication skills.
• Be flexible with time scheduling to meet customer needs.
• Willing to comply with all company policies.
• Have a clean class 5 driver’s license.
• Available to participate in the on-call rotation

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with Waukesha and Caterpillar engines and Recip. compressors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances and in small areas with many moving pieces/parts.
