Job summary

Silent-Aire Limited Partnership, located at our Edmonton facility, is seeking a Journeyperson Plumber to install, maintain and repair plumbing and heating systems in a large manufacturing environment. Reliable transportation is required to commute to the site.

The role involves reading blueprints, handling gas lines, water pipes, air systems, and HVAC equipment, while upholding safety standards and contributing to ongoing maintenance programs. Night and rotating day shifts are available.

Qualifications

  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training preferred.
  • Industrial Plumber Trade Certification and working towards Red Seal are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Installs plumbing assemblies into HVAC equipment.
  • Reviews blueprints and specifications; updates drawings as needed.
  • Tends to plumbing, air, and vacuum issues to keep production running.
  • Participates in construction/remodeling projects involving plumbing or gas fitting.
  • Maintains and performs preventative maintenance for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Proposes changes to plans to improve production efficiency.
  • Trains and supervises junior employees and apprentices.
  • Performs plumbing inventory and orders parts.
  • Provides technical assistance and emergency response for existing facilities.
  • Sets up and tests finished HVAC equipment for proper performance.
  • Maintains safety documentation and compliance with safety programs.

Overview

Silent-Aire Limited Partnership is a wholly owned subsidiary of Johnson Controls. Silent-Aire is a technology driven company that designs, engineers and manufactures hyperscale cooling and modular data center solutions.


This role is located at our facility in Edmonton and you must have a reliable transportation to commute.

We are currently hiring for both Night Shift and Rotating Day Shift positions.
  • Night Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6:0 PM to 5:30 AM
  • Rotating Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with weekend coverage included as part of the rotation

TheJourneypersonPlumber willbe responsible forthe installation, maintenance and repairs associated with plumbing and heating requirements for a large manufacturing environment.This positionwill work using safe work practices with items such as, but not limitedto:air conditioning, humidifiers, gas lines, waterpipesand sewer utilities in and about the facilities, as well asmaintainingand repairing compressed air lines, compressors, and vacuum pumps.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Installs commercial and in-house produced plumbing assemblies into in-process HVAC equipment.

  • Reviews blueprints andspecifications;ensures drawings and specifications will function as designed inenvironmentintended for use and maintains drawings to reflect accurately any changes and/or additions that are made.

  • Tendstoplumbing, air, and vacuum issues to keep production equipment running.

  • Participates in all construction and remodeling projects involving plumbing, air conditioning, or gas fitting changes and/or additions.

  • Tends to the maintenance and preventative maintenance programs including cleaning for all plumbing,heating, andair conditioning, and air and vacuum related equipment.

  • Proposes changes or modifications to plans to enhance production and efficiency of systems plans and specifications for sanitation facilities.

  • Assistin training, directing, and supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.

  • Performs plumbing inventory and orders parts asrequired.

  • Reviews coding accuracy of assigned builds.

  • Provides technical Assistance/Emergency Response services to existing facilities.

  • Set up and tests finished HVAC equipment for proper performance/customer requirements.

  • Keeps detailed andaccuratemaintenance reports and safety documentation.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.

  • Performs all dutiesin accordance withSilent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.

  • Other duties asrequired.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training preferred.

  • Appropriate credentials and certifications - Industrial Plumber Trade Certification, 5th PeriodApprentice andworking towards an Industrial Plumber Red Seal Certificate.

  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.

  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.

  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Able to work well under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionallyat all times.

Working Conditions
  • 24/7 availability may berequired.

  • Physical ability tolift upto 50lbs.

  • Travel to off-site locations may berequired.

  • Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).

  • Overtime asrequired.

  • Hazards associated withthe trade.

  • Work both indoors andoutdoors,may be exposed to construction sites.
