• Minimum 5 years Heavy Duty Mechanic experience.
• Experience with hydraulic and diesel engine repairs.
• Class 5 Driver's License with a Clean Abstract.

We are currently looking for a Journeyman Shop Mechanic to join our Rocky View, AB Vertex Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy and specialty equipment.
• Troubleshoot damaged industrial vehicles by inspecting hoses, fuel lines, injectors, coolant systems, wiring, air leaks, clutch/transmission, wheels, brakes, and steering components.
• Refurbish damaged components such as transmissions, clutches, alternators, steering parts, and brake shoes.
• Inspect, repair, and troubleshoot chassis and engine mechanics.
• Operate hand tools like impact wrenches, torque wrenches, and drills.
• Lifting and carrying hydraulic pumps, vehicle seats, hoses, brake pots, and chains.
• Perform two-person lifts for brake shoes or vehicle seats.
• Conduct "live" troubleshooting by operating vehicles to identify malfunctions.
• Determine and document required repairs.
• Prepare work orders and cost estimates for approval.
• Test and inspect repairs to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and regulations.
• Complete documentation and reporting for inspections and repairs.
• Provide troubleshooting guidance for emergency repairs.
• Follow Vertex HSE standards and guidelines in all responsibilities.

Candidate Qualifications

• Journeyman Certification
• Minimum 5 years Heavy Duty Mechanic experience
• Experience with hydraulic and diesel engine repairs
• Experience with chassis mechanics
• Experience with specialty equipment, especially Vacuum and Steamer
• Class 5 Driver's License with a Clean Abstract
• Commitment to environmental compliance and safety
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good health and physical condition
• Integrity and reliability

Assets To Have

• Class 1 or 3 Driver's License
• First Aid Certification
• H2S Alive Certification
