We are expanding our highway maintenance operations into CMA 519 with operational centers in Hanna (with a satellite highway maintenance yard in Sunnybrook); and in Oyen (with satellite yards in Jenner and Empress), Alberta.

We are looking to hire a Lead Journeyman Mechanic, Highway Maintenance Operations, to be based in Hanna, AB.

Reporting to the Senior Superintendent, Mechanical Programs, the Lead Journeyman Mechanic, will provide mechanical support to LaPrairie Works Inc. operations throughout CMA 519.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Service Truck to provide mechanical support to the operations throughout CMA 519.
• Inspect trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment, in a fleet environment, for proper performance
• Diagnose faults using computerized testing equipment
• Adjust equipment and replace faulty parts
• Repair damaged equipment parts
• Clean, lubricate, and conduct routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles
• Perform major repair work when necessary
• Manage and hold maintenance shop staff accountable for conducting their duties in a safe manner, ensuring all procedures and safety requirements are adhered to
• Monitor maintenance shop performance against established goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary
• Oversee daily and weekly workloads to achieve shop objectives and the delivery of expected results
• Work with training coordinator to ensure all maintenance staff receive and complete required training
• Deliver prompt and efficient resolution of any issues related to Mechanical Programs
• Hold monthly safety meetings with maintenance teams
• Ensure proper utilization of the company’s maintenance management system
• Communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
• Supervise and direct contractors when they are on-site.
• Actively participate in the compliance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance System
• Perform other duties as required
  
  

Skills And Experience

• 6 -10 years of experience as a Red Seal mechanic (HD and/or Light Duty).
• Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Experience with routine servicing, major repairs and preventative maintenance programming / scheduling.
• CVIP license in good standing required.
• Experience with computer-based Maintenance Management Software programs.
• Solid understanding of the OH&S regulations, in conjunction with a safety-oriented management approach.
• Effective Communication skills - both verbal and written.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Solid critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
