Job summary

Powell Canada Inc. is seeking a Journeyman Machinist in Edmonton to setup and operate machine tools for precision fabrication. The role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor in Fabrication, requiring attention to quality, safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, calculating dimensions, and producing parts to spec with lathes, mills, shapers or grinders. Pre-employment testing and compliance with ISO practices are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Valid Journeyman Machinist Ticket or Red Seal.
• Min 4 years as Journeyman in fabrication.
• Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing and Execution System).
• Experience machining stainless steel and copper.
• Pre-employment substance abuse and medical testing.

Responsibilities

• Study parts, blueprints and drawings to determine operation sequences.
• Measure and inspect dimensions with micrometers and verniers.
• Machine parts to specifications using lathes, mills, shapers or grinders.
• Maintain inventory and stock of tools; ensure adequate supplies.
• Ensure quality by testing machined pieces and checking lubrication and cooling.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Assist training of other employees and promote safety culture.
