Job summary

Nova Scotia Power in Lakeside, NS is seeking a Garage Mechanic to perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment. This permanent role reports to the Garage Supervisor and requires after-hours availability and provincial travel.

The ideal candidate holds a Red Seal Journeyperson with Truck & Transport credentials, NS Class 3 license, and hydraulics experience. Opportunities for training and growth are provided within Fleet Services.

Qualifications

• Inter-Provincial Red Seal Journeyperson (Truck & Transport) with 2+ years’ experience and a valid NS Class 3 license.
• Hydraulics experience and CUFC/Fluid Power certifications are assets.
• Demonstrated mechanical proficiency and problem-solving ability.
• Willingness to travel across the province and work after hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Travel throughout the province and be assigned to other locations as needed.
• Participate in regulatory training and on-the-job development programs.
• Uphold safety, health, and environmental standards at all times.
