Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a Mobile Service Mechanic to service the Public Works fleet in Noel (Zone 18). You will repair, rebuild, and adjust a range of equipment including tractors, loaders, graders and trucks, with emphasis on preventative maintenance.

You must have high school with Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Truck and Transport and 5+ years of diversified mechanical experience. A Class 5 license is required; Air Brake endorsement is an asset.

Qualifications

• High school completion with Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Truck & Transport; minimum 5 years diversified mechanical experience.
• Successful completion of Nova Scotia MVI training as part of probationary requirements.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license; Air Brake endorsement is an asset.
• Assets: engine diagnostic tech, electrical schematics, online service manuals.
• Must demonstrate initiative, communicate well, and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Repair, rebuild and adjust fleet equipment; determine reasons for malfunctions.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize failures and downtime.
• Maintain a clean workspace; PPE provided; ensure safety at all times.
• Work independently across field and repair environments; on-call outside regular hours.
