Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join the Production Team at our Calgary facility. The role supports a day shift from 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, focused on HVAC system testing, maintenance, and electrical diagnostics.

Ideal candidates will have Grade 12, strong safety practices, and the ability to interpret electrical drawings. Manufacturing background and OT availability are assets.

Qualifications

• Must understand electrical drawings, wiring schematics and bill of materials.
• Must be able to read and interpret electrical code specifications.
• Experience in manufacturing environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting on HVAC systems to identify issues.
• Inspect and maintain electrical components, including motors, control panels, sensors, and wiring.
• Diagnose and repair complex electrical problems using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and PLC programming.
• Collaborate with engineering to implement energy-efficient HVAC control strategies.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Document maintenance and repair activities for record-keeping.

Position Description

Scott Springfield by Modine is tier-1 supplier that offers scalable air handling solutions for commercial and industrial customers across North America. This is a Day Shift Position

from 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday

This role will be based at our 2234 Portland St SE location in Calgary Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting on HVAC systems to identify and resolve issues promptly
• Inspect and maintain electrical components, including motors, control panels, sensors, and wiring.
• Diagnose and repair complex electrical problems using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and PLC programming.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and implement energy-efficient HVAC control strategies.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Document maintenance and repair activities accurately for record-keeping purposes.
• Train and mentor junior technicians in electrical testing procedures and safety protocols.
• Install, replace, repair and test electrical circuits and equipment such as electrical controls, join and connect wires, test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits, troubleshoot and isolate faults.
• Electrical troubleshooting knowledge diagnose control and hardware malfunctions
• Assist and/or direct interpreting drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to better help execute electrical installation and troubleshooting
• QA/QC testing and documentation
• Willingness to provide guidance and training to electrical apprentices
• Employee is responsible to perform the above mentioned, and any other tasks assigned to them in a safe manner and in accordance with our Health & Safety Policies, JHA’s & SWP’s.
• Employee is responsible to understand and follow all Company Policies and Rules.

Required Education & Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Must demonstrate organizational skills and be able to work independently.
• Must exhibit safe work practices.
• Must be willing to work in other areas of our facility as required.
• Must be able work OT on weekdays and weekends when required.
• Previous experience in manufacturing environment an asset
• Must be able communicate effectively with Co-Workers, Team Leads, Supervisors, Engineering, Quality and Health & Safety.
• Comfortable working in loud environments (hearing protection required).
• Steel toed boots (CSA Approved 6’ in height or greater) required.
• Ability to use various hand & power tools (drills, grinders, chop saws, band saws, measuring tape, etc.).
• Good hand eye coordination.
• Capacity to learn and follow electrical drawings, wiring schematics and bill of materials
• Strong communication, problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
• Understanding of engineering and electrical principles.
• Experience or knowledge of HVAC will be considered an asset
