Job summary

Propak Systems Ltd. in Airdrie, AB is seeking a Journeyman Crane Operator / Class 1 Driver for our Fabrication Shops. This night shift runs 5:00pm–3:00am Monday–Thursday, with daily responsibilities including crane operation, rigging, and site transport.

Qualified candidates hold an Alberta Journeyperson certificate (or equivalent), a Class 1 license, and 1–2 years of crane experience. Inter-Provincial Red Seal is a plus. RRSP benefits and opportunities to grow are offered.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate or equivalent.
• Alberta Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean record is required.
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
• 1–2 years of directly related crane operator experience.
• Sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement and confidentiality agreements.

Responsibilities

• Operate cranes to lift, move, and position equipment and materials.
• Drive the crane to the job site as required.
• Rig and prepare the crane for operation, secure loads.
• Set up for lifts with proper blocking and leveling.
• Perform routine crane maintenance and inspections.
• Complete daily transfers between Propak locations as needed.

Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry. We are currently seeking a Journeyman Crane Operator / Class 1 Driver to join our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB. This is a night shift, 5:00pm-3:00am M-T

Key Responsibilities

• Operate cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.
• Drive the crane to the job site.
• Rig the machine up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation).
• Set up the machine for the lift (make it level and stable) using blocking and leveling materials.
• Booms (including telescoping booms and articulating booms possessing live lines) capable of swinging, hoisting and booming up and down with a lifting capacity of greater than 5 tons (4.5 tonnes) and less than 45 tons (40.8 tons).
• Service and operate travelling, fixed or climbing type hoisting equipment with a vertical mast or tower and a jib.
• Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting.
• Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.
• Complete daily material transfers between the separate Propak locations as required by the 404 Yard
• Operate equipment at any of the Propak locations based on work load and requirements
• Ensure all internal BOL’s are delivered, signed for and accurately completed
• Work closely with Administrative staff to ensure transfers and completed in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator

• Load, haul, and deliver materials such as pipe and heavy equipment
• Apply tire chains when required, as per DFI’s safe work procedures
• Maintain a legal driver's logbook Geo tab

Qualifications

• Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
• Alberta Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract is required
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
• 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
• As a condition of employment, employees are required upon hire to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.
