Job summary

Amrize North America Inc. in Edmonton is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Carpenter to join our precast team. This full-time role requires safety-conscious, quality-oriented construction work on concrete forms and assemblies in a live production environment.

You will read blueprints, place concrete, supervise formwork, and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies. A high school diploma and carpentry registration are preferred, with CSTS-09 or 2020 safety certificates

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade registered in carpentry an asset.
  • Concrete Form Setter experience.
  • Experience working in a production line setting.
  • CSTS-09 or 2020 safety certificates are assets.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and proper use of PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Check formwork and rebar.
  • Direct placement of concrete into forms and surfaces.
  • Apply sealing components to cure surfaces.
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before beginning each task.
  • Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete.
  • Read and interpret blueprints for precast forms.
  • Assist other carpenters with framework assembly.
  • Prepare layouts of forms from drawings provided.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble per specifications.
  • Capable of using various power tools including hand saws and table saws.
  • Knowledge of different kinds of wood appropriate for form size.
  • Promote safety and adherence to environmental policies.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize Precast division is in search of an experienced Journeyperson Carpenter to join our team, the ideal candidate must be safety-conscious and quality-oriented. This is full-time employment at the Amrize Precast Plant in Edmonton.


WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Check formwork and rebar
  • Direct placement of concrete into forms and surfaces
  • Apply sealing components to cure surfaces
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before beginning each task
  • Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints needed for concrete Precast forms.
  • Assist other carpenters with the assembly of the framework.
  • Prepare layouts of forms from drawings that are provided
  • Measure, cut, and assemble in accordance with the specifications provided.
  • Capable of using various power tools including hand saws and table saws.
  • Knowledge of different kinds of wood that would be appropriate to use depending on the size of form being built
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Required Training/Certifications: Trade registered in carpentry an asset
Required Work Experience: Concrete Form Setter experience
Additional Requirements:

  • Experience working in a production line setting
  • CSTS-09 or 2020 and other safety certificates are considered assets
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
