At Ackard, our projects run Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM—no evenings, no weekends, and no on‑call stress. You’ll get all statutory holidays off, plus we shut down for about a week over Christmas so you can truly unplug. We’re a close‑knit team that values family, collaboration, and balance. If you’re looking for a place to put down roots, grow your skills, and enjoy coming to work each day, you’ll feel right at home here. Ackard has been a trusted name in Edmonton for over 40 years, known for quality craftsmanship and homes that truly stand out.

What You’ll Do

As a Journeyman Carpenter at Ackard, you’ll work under the supervision of the Site Supervisors, and the Construction Manager to transform spaces through top‑notch renovation and custom new home construction projects. You’ll be involved in hands‑on work across all phases of construction, from demolition and framing to finishing and detailing. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Arriving early to ensure the site is ready for immediate productivity
  • Reading blueprints, scopes, and work orders; asking questions to confirm understanding
  • Performing demolition work to prepare for construction
  • Framing and installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials like wood, steel, concrete, and composites
  • Erecting scaffolding and ladders for above‑ground work
  • Installing doors, windows, hardware, interior and exterior finishes
  • Completing drywall, patching, painting, tile work, and finishing carpentry
  • Performing concrete work including form setup, mixing, and pouring
  • Working alongside sub‑trades to ensure smooth, coordinated project flow
  • Logging daily work and updates using Buildertrend construction software
  • Keeping a clean and organized jobsite through regular housekeeping
  • Following all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Contributing to team success by stepping in wherever needed within your skill set
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in working order and ensuring machines are serviced regularly
  • Performing daily hazard assessments and participating in weekly toolbox meetings
  • Following all Ackard safety protocols, standards, and procedures, and adhering to building codes and regulations

  • Strong safety mindset with an eye for spotting hazards and taking steps to prevent incidents
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record
  • Equipped with your own set of tools and ready to work
  • Professional, personable, and confident in client‑facing situations
