Valdek Construction Inc. in Winnipeg is seeking a Junior Carpenter to join our residential renovations team. This full-time, year-round role offers hands-on learning with an experienced crew, with a clear path to greater responsibilities as you grow.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years hands-on carpentry or residential construction experience.
  • Experience with residential renovations or remodels.
  • Solid basic carpentry techniques and practices.
  • Able to use common hand and power tools safely.
  • Willing to take direction and learn from feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with residential renovations, remodels, additions, and basements.
  • Perform demolition and site preparation.
  • Assist with framing walls, floors, and structure.
  • Install insulation, drywall, trim, doors, cabinetry, shelving, and finishing hardware.
  • Read drawings with guidance from seniors.
  • Maintain and operate tools; keep site clean and safe.
  • Organize materials and support daily tasks.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and team.
  • Care for tools and vehicles.

Are you an early-career Carpenter who already has some residential construction experience and is ready to take the next step?

Valdek Construction specializes in home additions, basement renovations, and full home remodels across Winnipeg. We're looking for a Junior Carpenter who has a solid foundation in residential construction, takes pride in quality work, and is eager to learn from experienced Carpenters.

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of renovation projects while working alongside an experienced team. As your skills and confidence grow, there is a clear path to take on more responsibility and advance within the company.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Assisting with residential renovations, remodels, additions, and basement projects
  • Performing demolition and site preparation
  • Assisting with framing walls, floors, and other structural components
  • Installing insulation, drywall, trim, doors, cabinetry, shelving, and finishing hardware
  • Taking accurate measurements and preparing materials for installation
  • Reading and following construction drawings with support from senior team members
  • Safely operating and maintaining hand tools and power tools
  • Keeping jobsites clean, organized, and safe
  • Loading, unloading, and organizing materials
  • Supporting experienced Carpenters with daily project tasks
  • Communicating professionally with homeowners and team members when needed
  • Taking care of company tools, equipment, and vehicles
What We Offer
  • $20-$28/hour, based on experience and skill level
  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Interior renovation work throughout the winter
  • Early Fridays: 9-hour days Monday through Thursday and a half-day Friday
  • Weekends are generally yours. Occasional weekend work may be required to meet a deadline, but it is rare and planned in advance.
  • 75% employer-paid health, dental, and health practitioner coverage after 90 days

  • $500 annual tool allowance after 90 days

Who We're Looking For
  • Has 2-3 years of hands-on carpentry or residential construction experience
  • Has experience with residential renovations, remodeling, or home construction
  • Has a solid understanding of basic carpentry techniques and construction practices
  • Is comfortable using common hand tools and power tools safely
  • Can take direction, ask questions, and apply feedback
  • Takes pride in producing quality work
  • Is dependable, punctual, and ready to contribute each day
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Has a positive attitude and is willing to take on a variety of tasks
  • Is a registered apprentice or interested in continuing an apprenticeship
  • Has a valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation
