Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is hiring a Journeyman Automotive Technician with generator experience to service and repair a range of generators at our Edmonton location. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain generator systems and communicate with customers and supervisors about needed work.

The ideal candidate has generator service experience, a valid Class 5 license, and is comfortable with overtime.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Automotive Technician with generator experience preferred.
• Class 5 license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points) is required.
• Class 3 license is considered an asset.
• Experience with generator service and repair.
• Available to work overtime when required.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair 15kW to 130kW generators.
• Inspect motor in operation and test automotive systems and generator components to diagnose faults.
• Adjust, repair or replace parts of generator systems using hand tools and specialized equipment.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups.
• Review work orders with supervisor and discuss progress.
• Advise customers on work performed and future repair needs.
