YWCA BC is hiring a Part Time Job Developer for 21 hours/week on a 1-year contract until October 2027. You will work with program participants to secure unpaid or subsidized placements and sustainable employment, and assist with foreign credential recognition.

Job Description

Working with program participants and their established goals, the Job Developer will ensure that a targeted number of participants secure unpaid work placements, subsidized work placements and/or obtain sustainable employment in their primary or related field as well as facilitate the foreign credential recognition process. The job developer will also connect with employers for placements and focus groups. The Job Developer will work under the general supervision of the Health Connect Senior Manager. The Job Developer will work in a hybrid environment; in person required at the assigned locations, and will work virtually and collaboratively with the YWCA Toronto team.

Whatyou’llbe doing:

• Conduct one-on-one job development meetings, skills assessments, and career planning with participants.
• Support participants with foreign credential recognition, licensing, and career pathway navigation.
• Match participants with residency, mentorship, employment, and work placement opportunities.
• Recruit and engage employers and healthcare partners to secure subsidized residencies, mentorships, and employment opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong employer partnerships through outreach, direct marketing, networking events, and focus groups.
• Deliver participant and employer orientations, workshops, and career exploration activities.
• Provide individual and group-based mentorship and support to participants throughout their employment journey.
• Facilitate Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) training and employer engagement initiatives.
• Monitor participant progress, maintain accurate records, collect feedback, and provide post-placement follow-up and support.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Whatyou’llneed:

• Experience in job development, career coaching, career advising/counselling, or participant placement, preferably working with newcomers, visible minority communities, or other diverse populations.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with participants, employers, community partners, stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience maintaining accurate participant records, case notes, and documentation.
• Relevant post-secondary education (degree or diploma) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of barriers and challenges faced by women and newcomers to Canada, as well as community resources and wrap-around supports available to participants.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, OneDrive, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable, with strong initiative, time management, follow-through, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA).
• Ability to work in person during office hours, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required and travel between program sites.
• A second language is considered an asset.
• Successful completion of a clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Healthcare experience and/or healthcare connections will be considered an asset
• CCDP certification will be considered an asset
