Job summary

Lifemark Health Group in Fort McMurray is seeking a Job Developer to link adult participants to work experiences and employment opportunities. The role includes facilitating regular workshops and providing individualized support to help participants secure positions.

The ideal candidate will have strong employer networking skills, experience in career counselling, and the ability to coordinate and deliver job preparation activities while maintaining effective stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • University Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or related field.
  • Career and employment counselling, job development/placement and marketing, case management, government programming facilitation experience an asset
  • Strong understanding of the Alberta labour market with location-specific knowledge
  • Sensitivity to learning limitations
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Knowledgeable with social media platforms and job search sites
  • Ability to lesson plan for multiple levels of learning across ages and abilities
  • Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • An excellent understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity
  • Security background check required

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and developing employment opportunities and directly placing participants into suitable positions in the labour market
  • Ensuring sustainability in job placement; providing direct support to participants and employers to maintain employment
  • Providing direct participant services including: facilitating employment preparation workshops, posting notices, managing social media accounts, developing and presenting information on professional resumes and job search skills
  • Contacting employers and developing a strong network of employer contacts
  • Developing job readiness by identifying challenges, barriers and assistance needed to gain meaningful employment
  • Assessing and addressing individual needs, barriers, and complexities and developing and managing service plans
  • Ensuring effective and ongoing communication with identified stakeholders, including participants, professionals, referral sources, and amongst a strong interdisciplinary team
  • Connecting participants with appropriate community resources, including Alberta and Federal Government services
  • Identifying and connecting with employers to identify recruitment and hiring needs
  • Timely report writing and record keeping
  • Creating and maintaining a database for employer connections and networking contacts

Location: Fort McMurray - Lifemark Vocational Services
Title: Job Developer
Department: Vocational Services

The Job Developer will be responsible for linking adult participants to work experience and employment opportunities. The Job Developer will also facilitate regular workshops on employment preparation topics and provide individualized support. A successful candidate will have experience networking to build relationships with employers and industry professionals.

Job Developer - Duties/Responsibilities
  • Identifying and developing employment opportunities and directly placing participants into suitable positions in the labour market
  • Ensuring sustainability in job placement; providing direct support to participants and employers to maintain employment
  • Providing direct participant services including: facilitating employment preparation workshops, posting notices, managing social media accounts, developing and presenting information on professional resumes and job search skills, attending hiring fairs, coordinating and facilitating employment boot camp events
  • Contacting employers (cold calling, networking, events, etc.) and developing a strong network of employer contacts
  • Developing job readiness by identifying challenges, barriers and assistance they may need to gain meaningful employment
  • Assessing and addressing individual needs, barriers, and complexities and developing and managing service plans
  • Ensuring effective and ongoing communication with identified stakeholders, including participants, professionals, referral sources, and amongst a strong interdisciplinary team
  • Connecting participants with appropriate community resources, including Alberta services (available through the Alberta Government), Federal Government Services, and local agencies and service providers
  • Identifying and connecting with employers to identify their recruitment and hiring needs
  • Timely report writing, in accordance with current templates, guides, standards and processes
  • Record keeping and maintaining paper and electronic files
  • Creating and maintaining a database for employer connections and networking contacts
Job Developer – Minimum Qualifications
  • University Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or related field including Kinesiology, Community Rehabilitation, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Social Work, Education etc.
  • Career and employment counselling, job development/placement and marketing, case management, government programming facilitation experience an asset
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of the Alberta labour market with an emphasis on their respective locations; knowledge specific to the supply chain sector an asset
  • Sensitivity to learning limitations that may be present with participants
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Knowledgeable with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, as well as key job search sites including Glassdoor, Indeed, CareerBuilder for job searching and applications
  • Ability to lesson plan for multiple levels of learning across various ages and abilities
  • Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • An excellent understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity
  • Security background check required
