Job summary

Prospect Human Services is seeking an enthusiastic facilitator to plan and deliver group-based workshops on pre-employment topics. You will adapt content to trends, coordinate online and in-person sessions, and provide career coaching to clients to help them explore and target job opportunities.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Marketing, maintaining client records, and supporting job clubs. A background in adult learning, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Office are required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role directly related to career development (equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered).
  • Experience in pre-employment and essential skill development including resume/cover letter and interview prep.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and presentation software; strong online and social media skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate delivery and implementation of workshops for group-based topics, adjusting materials based on trends.
  • Facilitate workshops according to schedules and demand; provide career coaching for clients.
  • Assist in maintaining online digital and social media presence; analyze content delivery outcomes for improvements.
  • Train other staff on workshop delivery; assess and document learners’ progress with feedback.
  • Organize and manage classrooms (online and in-person) to make learning engaging.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications on branding and content consistency.
  • Provide client guidance on next steps; log interactions and maintain client records; recommend services.
  • Support in-person job clubs as required; ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

What will you do?
Workshops
  • Plan and coordinate the delivery and implementation of the content of workshops for group-based workshops on pre-employment topics and adjusts and revises materials based on trends
  • Facilitate workshops based on defined schedules and demand
  • Assist in maintaining an online digital and social media presence
  • Analyzes success and areas of opportunity for content delivery
  • Trains other staff on delivery of workshops
  • Assess and document learners’ progress and provide feedback
  • Able to organize and manage a classroom to make learning fun, easy and meaningful for learners online and in person
  • Demonstrate patience and understanding
  • Work with other departments, such as Marketing & Communications on branding and consistency of content
  • Provide career coaching for clients; assists clients in analyzing and synthesizing career exploration information
  • Provide support for in-person job clubs as required
Resource Coordination
  • Maintains and updates client records within the internal database, including detailed notes on client engagement, bootcamp registration and attendance, as well as logging all interactions
  • Provides recommendations on next steps for the client to the client, informs the Service Coordinator, and other team members of the recommendation
  • Conducts regular research to become a subject matter expert
  • Work collaboratively with Service Coordinators, other Facilitators, and Career Advisors Communicates current information to applicable team members on client trends and make recommendations for continued services based on client engagement and needs
  • Maintains database of career development tools, websites, and related materials
  • Maintains knowledge of community resources and complementary organizations with the ability to direct/refer clients to appropriate sources of information pertaining to basic needs, mental health, employment standards, etc.
  • Acts as central point of contact and subject matter expert for clients, support networks, referral sources, and internal team members
General
  • Diligently works to ensure thorough understanding of all Prospect's programs
  • Develops measurement system(s) for the program to assess service delivery and contract requirements
  • Maintains client information in files, records, stats, and reports
  • Monitors client goals and completion of action or service plans; communicates with other staff as necessary
  • Supports Employment Resource Centre coverage as required
  • Complies with company policies/procedures, provincial, privacy and other job related legislation
  • Champions Prospect’s goals, vision, mission and brand pillars
What does it take to do this job?
  • Some post-secondary education in career advising or other equivalent program, 3+ years’ experience in a similar role that is directly related to career development (equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered); preference given to those with experience in Adult Learning and Facilitation
  • 3+ years’ of pre-employment and essential skill development expertise including:
    • Resume and cover letter development
    • Interviewing skills including knowing the various techniques used, and the ability to prep clients
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and presentation software; advanced proficiency with internet, online, and social media platforms
  • Exceptional oral communication, team work, and interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships, engage, counsel, motivate, coach, and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of, and experience using, career exploration tools and websites, with the ability to assist clients in synthesizing and analyzing information to develop realistic action plans and job targets
  • Experience accessing local labour market information and tools
  • Exposure to various legislation such as: OH&S, Human Rights, and Employment Standards, with exposure to corporate human resources best practices
  • Elevated written communication and content development experience (creation of workshop/seminar materials, tailoring written communication to various audiences, formatting written materials, having branding awareness, and applying appropriate email etiquette)
  • Experience leading/facilitating different formats of meetings, workshops and presentations to various audiences of internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly effective interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Commitment to continuous learning and growth.
  • Experience working with a variety of demographics and disabilities
  • Have an awareness of other cultures and their own
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills with the ability to gather information and work with clients
  • Evidence of creativity and flexibility
  • Shows respect, patience, and understanding to all learners
  • A non-judgmental, respectful and empathetic approach to a variety of issues faced by our adult students
  • Exposure to diversity and inclusion specific to disabilities is an asset
  • Experience in a retail, hospitality or food service industry will be an asset
  • All employees must pass a background check
  • This position is currently a hybrid position and employees must be flexible to work from the office as well as from a home base
